DAG 4th Annual Deaf Awareness Week Events!

* Sept. 18, 2009 (Friday) Annual Deaf/HH Picnic at Fassnight Park,
(Across from Parkview High School) Springfield, MO.
10 am to 2pm - Cost is $1 per person.
Cost includes: Food, drinks, cups, plates, silverware and dessert will
be donated by area businesses and DAG. (You are welcome to bring a sack
lunch if you prefer to not pay the $1) The Deaf/HH community, Students,
Interpreters, Deaf Educators, Sign Language Students, Parents, Friends
and Family are all welcome to attend this event. Luke Adams, Deaf
contestant from The Amazing Race will make a surprise guest appearance
to visit with the Deaf/HH kids!!!
Also... our annual Silent Auction begins.

* Sept.19, 2009 (Saturday)- Deaf Awareness Group Expo-
(10am to 5pm) Deaf Expo is at Parkview Christian Church
(1362 S Campbell, across from Parkview High School)
Come browse the 30 booths set up by area Deaf and Hearing vendors, local
business and organizations that offer services to the Deaf and Hard of
Hearing. We will have small zoo animals for you to pet, Ozark Mountain
Deaf Church Choir will perform, concessions stand, Silent Auction, Fire
truck, Firehouse, Clowns and come meet Luke Adams from the Amazing Race!
Luke will be here all day signing autographs and making special speaking
appearances. Admission is FREE.

* Sept. 20, 2009 (Sunday)- Ozark Mountain Deaf Church Potluck and
Service
Potluck at Noon, Service at 1:30pm- 776 W Farm Road 186, Springfield,
Mo

They meet in New Life Church.
Bring a covered dish and come enjoy meeting the wonderful people at
Ozark Mountain Deaf Church (OMDC). They will provide the meat, plates,
drinks and utensils. This is a special invitation for you and your
family to come see what OMDC is all about! Parents, bring your Deaf/HH
child so they can learn about Jesus. This service will be voiced for
those who do not know sign language very well.

*Sept. 22, 2009 (Tuesday)- Spa Night for Ladies of the Deaf Community
only! Join us for an evening of pampering. Leave the kids at home and
come for a spa night for your tired hands and feet. This is a come and
go event and finger foods and drinks will be provided. We will be doing
hand spas, dead sea salt foot soaks using Jordan Essentials products.
Also hand massages by a licensed therapist. This event is free for any
lady over 16 years old. Interpreters, Deaf, Students over 16 yrs. Deaf
Education Teachers and Moms are welcome to attend this FREE event hosted
by Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Look for the balloons to guide you to the
right entrance at 2210 W Republic Road. Starts at 6pm.You must RSVP to
Penny at americangirl61@ hotmail.com If you do not RSVP you will not have
a spa space reserved for you!

*Sept. 24, 2008 (Thurs.) Deaf/HH Students Workshop with JJ Jones and
Performance by Deaf Mime JJ Jones that night!-
* Deaf/HH Students Workshop with Deaf Mime JJ Jones- This free workshop
is open to Deaf/HH students K thru 12. Workshop is from 9am to 12pm at
Parkview Christian Church (1362 S Campbell) Students will have an
opportunity to work with JJ and be inspired to do some acting
themselves! Come learn different techniques to being a mime and acting.
You might even get picked to be in the show that night and perform with
JJ! This event is FREE and Interpreters can earn .35 CEU's for
attending.

Jones Performance- 7pm (doors open at 6pm) at Parkview High School
Auditorium
(516 W Meadowmere)The Auditorium is at the corner of Bennett
and Campbell Street. Limited parking available at Bennett and Campbell
and more parking available at the 516 W Meadowmere lot.
General Admission tickets? $2 for Adults and kids 12 years old and up.
Kids under 12 free. If you do not have the money to attend you can work
at an event during DAW to earn your ticket to the show. To learn more

Interpreters earn .2 CEU's for attending this event. Come experience
Deaf culture at its best! This event will not be voiced interpreted.
